How does God get your attention?

All of us are stubborn from one degree to another. It doesn’t take much effort or time to drift.

The Old Testament prophet Joel proclaims most clearly of “the Day of the Lord” which is a warning of disaster in a present and future time if there is no personal and national turning back to God and His covenant ideals.

Joel’s writing serves the nation of Israel as they experience both the catastrophe of locusts, as well as an invasion of a foreign army 1(1-17). Joel implores the elders and priests and all the people weep, wail and mourn trusting that as they do the Lord will then heal their land and supply their need (2;18). Joel speaks of not only his day but issues a promise to us with a future Hope when God will pour out His Spirit on all  mankind (2:28). For those who have heard His voice and placed their trust in Christ for the forgiveness of sin, we know His Spirit who lives within.

Joel’s message helps us understand that Gods judgment leads to repentance and the joy of present and future salvation.

Do you ever think that your life will be judged by God?

Do you have spiritual leaders in your life and are they leading you into a humble relationship with God and dependence on Christ?

Have you experienced today the Hope of your salvation in the face of Christ?

No one likes to be judged. But God wipes away all our sin when we turn to the person and work of Jesus Christ.
