“Lord, Teach us to Pray”
In our world today there is much opportunity for fear and worry. However, Jesus says, “Come to me all you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28 ) The psalmist said, “When I said, ‘My foot is slipping’, your love, O Lord, supported me. When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought joy to my soul. (Psalm 94:18,19 ). Are you weary? Is your foot slipping? Emmanuel is a church that is growing a ministry of prayer. Unlike the norm we desire that prayer and God’s guidance and counsel comfort and inform all we do. He is our Life, and prayer is our breath.
If there are issues in your life that seem insurmountable, can we pray for you? Whether it is over the phone or by email, through a personal visit with one of our pastors, in a small group, at Wednesday Evening Community Prayer, Sunday Evening All Church Prayer Gathering, or at quarterly 24 Hours of Prayer, or at one of our Sunday services, prayer is a growing hallmark of the Emmanuel family. You are invited to join the family.
“The condition of the church may be very accurately gauged by its prayer meetings. So is the prayer meeting a grace-o-meter and from it we may judge the amount of divine working among a people. If God be near a church, it must pray. And if He be not there one of the first tokens of His absence will be the slothfulness in prayer. Prayer is the breath of faith. Prayer meetings are the lungs of the church.” CH Spurgeon
