Welcome to this new column where we will explore portions of God's inexhaustible Word. Because of my background as an engineer, I expect that some of my subjects might seem a bit unusual, but I assure you that I hold a majestic view of Scripture.

The title of this column was chosen because it deals with the question, 'what is truth?'. The world tries to tell us that today truth is relative and it is what is meaningful to you. God's statement that He is Truth stands counter to our culture. Obviously someone is wrong.

My purpose in writing this column is not to give you support for your personal witness, although that will happen. Rather, I seek to assure you that The Truth Who wrote Scripture made sure that your generation has an accurate document, complete, and miraculously preserved to this day. Should we be surprised when Jesus stated that not one 'jot' or 'tittle' will pass away from the Word until heaven and earth pass away? (a 'jot' refers to the smallest letter and the 'tittle' refers to a decorative hook on a letter). That is pretty fine detail.

The very first recorded words of Satan demonstrate his ability to cast doubt on God's words. He still uses the same successful method today and many fall for the technique as did Eve. Doubt reigns supreme in our day and we find it from the man on the street to professional scholars and many points in between.

There are those who try to depict Scripture as an ancient document written by relatively unlearned old men. The prevailing view is that today's man is much more intelligent than ancient man. We will challenge that view in future columns.
