01/24/2010  The Communion of Saints:  Acts 2:44,45; 1 Corinthians 12:12-20, 27

huddleWe believe in The ‘Communion of Saints' declares the early Apostle's Creed. Communion refers to our "commonality" and our sharing therein. The early Church held all things in common and everyone was valued evenly.

We share in the Resources of our community by sharing our material blessings and our investments of time. (Acts 2:44,5) We maintain the Relationships of Community by keeping our communication open and having a clear conscience toward God and others. (See Acts 24:16, James 5:16) We fulfill our Responsibilities of Community by Loving one another (I John 4:7), Serving one another (Gal. 5:14), Honoring one another (Rom. 12:10), Forgiving one another (James 5:16), being a TEAM player (Phil. 1:27-30), and using our GIFTS for one another. (I Peter 4:10).
   And all that adds up to Rejoicing with one another in community; together in laughter and pain. (Romans 12:15). Together - side by side for the faith of the gospel. Building Christ's community means that we must BE THE CHURCH as Christ's BUILDS His Church. Now YOU are the Body of Christ and individually members of it. (I Cor. 12:27). Unity with Diversity becomes a thing of Beauty. So Are We? How does God want YOU to grow in Community this year? What function do you fulfill in His Body?

3. What area of responsibility in the Body of Christ most grabs your attention?
4. Are you enthusiastic and rejoicing in the building of Christ's community?
