01/17/2010 The Apprentice: Matthew 10:24,25
A true disciple on a quest to be authentic faces the greatest adventure in life. A true disciple of Jesus is submissive to His Word, His Spirit and His Will. (See John 8:31, Romans 8:6, Romans 12:2). A true disciple is also reflective. He or she reflects the glory of Christ and is transformed into the likeness of Christ by the Holy Spirit. Reflective in terms of Character, Passion and Desire. (See 2 Corinthians 3:18) A true disciple is also fulfilled. As Jesus said: "A disciple is not above his teacher, (He is submissive) nor a slave above his master. It is enough that a disciple is like his teacher". (He pursues Christlikeness.) Fulfillment doesn't come in being the greatest evangelist or the most important missionary. The goal of the Christian journey is simply to become like Christ. And that is enough. So whose apprentice are you? Who is discipling you? |

When we hear the term disciple today, we are usually a little confused about what is being referred to. I like to think of the word apprentice. An apprentice submits himself to the master-teacher to learn the trade. His or her goal is to become like the teacher. (See Matt. 10:24,25)
