05/20/2012 Harmony at Work: Ephesians 6:5-9
Have you ever thought of God being your employer? In the letter to the Ephesian churches, the missionary-Paul exhorts the servants and masters to recognize that regardless of their positions in the marketplace, God is their UNDERCOVER BOSS looking in. When we acknowledge that in fact our work is to be unto the Lord and not men, it changes EVERYTHING! Who am I working for? How am I working? What about when no one is looking?
It’s easy to spot a lazy worker just as it is easy to notice someone who has a winsome, wholehearted attitude who works with excellence. When followers of Christ, through the power of God’s Spirit, work for God’s approval, people notice. When they ask why you work the way you do, you can testify to your heavenly employer.
And when you fail? Humility, Honesty, Confession and Forgiveness is always the right path. You will gain respect from employer and employee alike. And God will give his approval as well. Who do you work for?
