The amazing story of God's redeeming love is that men and women of faith come from all walks of life. Noah had to face the ridicule of neighbors for years and build an ark by faith, saving those with him from the great flood. Abraham went forth in faith and became the father of many nations even though he had moments of telling less than the full truth. And then there was Rahab;

02/14/2010  Commendable Faith - Noah, Build Me an Ark:  Hebrews 11:7; Genesis 6:5-22

The life and times of Noah are much more than an ancient story. They are all about a man of persevering faith who obeys God when the whole world was wallowing in violence and selfishness. Noah "found favor" in the eyes of the Lord. Noah's ark becomes a picture of God's refuge from danger and death to all who would enter in to discover God's favor.

Over the last month your pastoral staff at Emmanuel has been guiding the church through its key ministry values or distinctives. God has called us as a church to be a people who exist to: Worship Jesus Christ; Deliberately Grow in our relationship to Him and others; Encourage the Community of Emmanuel; and be a people who are sold out on Mission for Him. Scott Thomas of Acts 29 Ministries articulates the importance and necessity of a church on being on Mission. "A church that is not missional is not really a church.
